MARILYN ASHFORD-BROWN
Marilyn Ashford-Brown has been inspired over the years by the music of the late, Phyllis Hyman. Very few know her story and connection to the legend. Marilyn once shared the stage with Ms. Hyman along with Pieces of A Dream. You Know How To Love Me is from Marilyn's forthcoming CD, which will be devoted to some of the greatest recordings of Ms. Hyman's career.
Can You Handle It was significant to Marilyn's professional recording career. It was originally recorded by Marilyn's former group Sasss, the lead vocal was later replaced by the Late, Sharon Redd and went on to become a huge hit. During 1980, Sasss had just completed recording the track and was heading to the U.K. with Bobby Thurston for a tour to promote You've Got What It Takes, also a huge hit. Marilyn would go on to work with Producers, Dexter Wansel and Al Johnson.
