The Barack Obama Experience:
Marilyn Ashford-Brown has always dreamed of performing with an Orchestra, but never would have imagined that she would do it by sharing the same stage with a presidential contender. In 2008, she received an invitation to perform during the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Dinner in Washington D. C. at the D. C.Convention Center. The special guest speaker of the evening would be non other than Candidate, Barack Obama. Shortly after her performance accompanied by the Clarence Knight Orchestra, the now President Barack Obama and our beautiful First Lady Michelle appeared on stage. They stood not more than 20 feet from where Marilyn was standing...It was a very proud moment to be a part of history, realizing that within a few months the election could very well go in favor of the first African-American President of the United States. "I never thought that I would live to see that day, but I did". In 2012 during the President's second run for office, Marilyn revised the lyrics to her international hit, I've Got A Feeling and submitted it to his campaign. She got the call that she had hoped for requesting permission to use it for the campaign trail. "That was one memorable experience that will be with me for the rest of my life"...
